Jochem Ruarus (He/Him)
Researcher, filmmaker and educator.
Jochem Ruarus (NL) is an interdisciplinary artist currently based in Amsterdam and Berlin. After having studied graphic design, he continued his studies at the Utrecht School of Arts in Utrecht where he graduated with a BA fine art and design. His work consists primarily of elaborate, visually opulent film. Coming from a fine arts background his work uses cinema as bait and radically cuts from reality to fantasy, flirting with the melancholic. Using moving image, sound-design and storytelling as an urge to contribute, infiltrate or disobey. Besides working as a visual artist, he is a lecturer and educator at several art institutions and researches the many facets of alternative ways of art education outside of the white cube.
Currently he studies MA Artistic Education/Method at the HKU.
